Re: Q26

At the end of the last paragraph, we are told that Bentham's principle is influencing modern law, but was " demoted from a rule to a presumption " [lines 57-60]. Moreover, we are not told Bentham's principle was ever adopted as a "rule," per se, but merely as an approach underlyi...

Re: Q19

Why is A unsupported? The logic in answer A does not imply that "antitrust laws would prohibit all attempts to reduce competition," which christine describes above. For something to be essential, the implication is that it merely has to exist. For example, "reproduction is essential f...

Re: Q20

Lines 29-31 show that some carbs have a greater tendency to cause caries than others. We can infer this because of the term "high cariogenic potential" in 30 (which is a quality that some carbs such as wild tubers possessed. By implication, it would stem to reason that some carbs lacked su...

Re: Q26

I think all we really know is that some common law principles that were once applied in practice are no longer applied. But we do not know whether any new laws regarding evidence have been written. So, for argument's sake, let's say that common law consisted of 100 principles that could have influen...

Did you mean to post that for question 26 (shodges)? E in question 25 is essentially the very antithesis of anarchism.

Re: Q15

In response to ericha3535's question about answer C, I think we have to consider what the question is asking. Essentially, the question is asking which 4 answers are consistent with an increased focus on statutory law, and which (1) answer would not follow from an increasing focus on statutory law. ...

Re: Errata list - Manhattan LSAT 3rd edition LOGIC GAMES

For the Geekettes game on pg 498, we are never told that there cannot be two opening acts or special guests at one concert (i.e. we are not told that there is a maximum of one opening act at each concert). For instance, there are three opening acts: R, S, and T. There is no rule that would exclude S...

Re: Q18 - There is little plausibility

I think E is a very strong answer for this Q. But I think answer C brings up a general LSAT question: On the LSAT, if we are told there is little of something, does that include the possibility that there is none of it? (i.e. in the same way that the "some" could include "all")

Re: Q16

Hmm...I think panman36's point seems reasonable, but is actually unsupported. The stories may, or may not, have to do with "one's own past." I don't think we can draw a solid conclusion one way or the other, given what is in the text. Since we should focus on what we do know for sure, I do...

Re: Passage Discussion

Isn't the author's main point really about grapes being the the reason for wine's apparent healthful effects? He clearly poses a hypothetical question at the end of paragraph 2 which he seems to answer in paragraph 3. And then, at the end of paragraph 3, he speculates that grapes may be the reason (...

Also, in the passage, the platypuses are trying to detect electrical fields emitted by other creatures. So we have As (platypus) trying to detect energy produced by Bs (prey). In answer A, we have As (birds) trying to mate with As (birds). In answer B, we have A (a certain animal) trying to detect e...

Re: Q15

Also B talks about physiological malfunction. This is never mentioned in the passage, which makes B out of scope. We are told about a physiological system that is well functioning...not one that malfunctions.

As for C, even if we knew it were true, the scope would be way too narrow.

Re: Q21 - A patient complained of feeling

E requires an unsupported assumption, as the two previous posts mention. Can a Manhattan LSATer help explain this one? Because, if we are going to grant unwarranted assumptions, then couldn't C and B also be correct? The stimulus only tells us that getting 4-6 hours a night contributed to his condit...

Re: Q8 - Essayist: Knowledge has been defined

Huh? It seems like the previous posts are talking about something that could or could not be the case. But consider this: we are told to identify the method of reasoning the essayist uses to defend the definition against the objection. Answer choice (E) merely states the objection (at least it's the...
