Re: Diagram

I used a logic chain to answer this question, and it took forever to get through the game. How did you know to use the horizontal in/out game board instead?

Re: Q13

What is the process for a "complete and accurate list" question for In/Out games? Do we go rule by rule like we normally do? Is there a quick and easy way to use our Logic Chain to answer this question fast? I am trying to get faster at In/Out games and caught myself spending more time tha...

Re: Q10 - Asian elephants running

Is it safe to assume that the Asian elephant has 4 feet? Or, can we only assume that it has at least 3 (as mentioned in the stimulus)?

Re: Q18 - Police Captain: The chief of police

I missed the part where it says that gifts of cash or objects valued at more than $100 COUNT as graft. I misread it to mean that these are the only things that are graft. Any advice on how to get better at recognizing these subtle, but important details?

Re: Diagram

When there are subgroups, should we always include all elements in our Logic Chain and split them by subgroups, even if there aren't rules for each element? So far, I have only been putting elements with rules on my Logic Chain, but perhaps need to include all elements when they're split into subgro...

Re: Q17 - Critic: works of modern literature

This is a necessary assumption question, and we can get there through conditional logic. The premise is: Tragedy --> Nobility (if it's a tragedy, the protagonist possesses nobility) Contrapositive: -- Nobility --> -- Tragedy Conclusion is: -- Fate --> -- Tragedy (we don't buy into fate so ...

Evidence : Gold from the artifacts had the same (unusual) ratio of trace elements that gold from the ancient mine had. Answer Anticipation: Here we go again, with the most classic argumen...

Re: Q22

Sure! If G only presents in group J, that means R is also in group J and G is not in group M or Group S. So the only options for groups M and S are R in both, W in both, or R and W in both. R in both is fine, and would be: M: R J: G R W S: R That's R in all three, which is answer choice C. Since it...

Re: Game Diagram

Yes, thanks! As you probably know, this stupid typing environment doesn't recognize blank spaces, so it's really hard to make game diagrams look right. I've been using a hack where I space things out with periods and then make all the periods WHITE so that they don't show up. :) But it makes it rea...

Re: Diagram

There are couple things going on in this game, but any time a game has SOME ordering component, you should make the diagram reflect that ordering going from left to right. So we definitely want 1pm, 2pm, 3pm to be our columns. For each timeslot, we need a space for west and a space for east, so I w...

Re: Diagram

There is, they just (confusingly) chose to notate the 4 things that can't happen, rather than the 1 thing that must happen . They could have written: H/M __ __ + M/H and that would suffice. Instead they ruled out the ways to break the rule. Since H and M need at least 2 people in between them, you ...

Re: Diagram

We have 8 characters, F(o), F(w), G(o), G(w), H(o), H(w), I(o), I(w) and we have 8 spots N: __ __ __ __ S: __ __ __ __ RULE 1: Since we can't put 2 w's in a column, we'll have to spread out our 4 w's over the 4 columns, 1 per column. That means that every column will be a mix of o/w. RULE 2: Can't ...

Re: Diagram

I agree with your synopsis. It looks like In/Out, insofar as it's a grouping game with only 2 groups. But since the rules are NOT a bunch of conditionals, we wouldn't reach for the Logic Chain. It's tempting to frame the 2 vs. 3 split or the O facilitates on green vs. O facilitates on red. But, as ...

Why are the 4 other answer choices incorrect? Re: Diagram

I wouldn't frame this game, personally. There are two splits: F/H in T, and F/G out. And they do intersect. If F is in T, G is out. But they don't impact the other elements of the game enough to start a domino effect in that instance, and none of the other instances (H in T, for example), start a d...
