Re: PT 56 S2 Q 21 Tania: A good art critic

Can you break down the argument/assumptions for Tania again? I'm still having difficulty linking "good art criticism" to being unbiased.

Thanks

How to Review the Practice Tests

After completing a practice test in a timed setting, can you please tell me any tips/methods that would help get the most out of reviewing it? For example, *What kinds of things should I focus on? *How do you structure the review? *From the review, how do you develop ideas, tips, methods to improve ...

Q9 - Museum visitor: The national government

I had some lag on this problem and got confused a little bit so it took me longer than I wanted to spend on it. I got A but just want to verify my thought pattern on this. The argument states that the 5% increase in minimum wage is going to cause an increase in operating expenses, forcing them to ra...

Re: PT 54, S4, Q9 - The Jacksons regularly receive wrong-number

Thanks for your explanation. I also answered this one incorrectly (choice C). My thoughts/questions: 1. In general, with arguments that contain a term that might not be understood, I just substitute another word in it to take it's place. Is this a good strategy? It doesn't seem like the word's meani...

Re: PR 56, reading comp, 4th passage, question 24

Could you also elaborate on support of the second part of choice A, "Real estate practices should be nondiscriminatory?" The passage indicates that the second proposal was more comprehensive in that it also advocated the same rights, and the "only" (line 35) proposal that called ...

PT56, S4, Q19

For number 19, the correct answer is E, but I am a bit confused by this. I agree that the first part of choice E is correct, but the last part "anomalous and special" seems a bit unsupported. In passage A, the author does indicate that the lack is "particularly problematic" (line...

Q15

15: P--N--O--T (From early to later). We know that T comes after G and O (rule 2), and we know that N comes after P (rule 3). Hence, this condition adds that N comes before O. So therefore by combining the rules, P comes before O. 16: G, O are essentially the same as far as the rules are concerned, ...

Q7 - The clinic administrator responds

Can you please explain question 7? I'm still having difficulty fully understanding how the use of the word "patients" undermines the assumption (answer E).

Yes that's why it caught me off guard at first, so I didn't know if there was a clearer way to frame the argument.

PT26, S1, G4 - In each of two years

Can you please explain the setup and any inferences for this game? The inference I came up with was that if H is selected, then I cannot be selected, and hence V must be selected, not allowing V to be selected. Unfortuanetly, I'm still having trouble getting the answers to 20, 22, 24 with certainty....

Q14 - A commercial insect trap consists

For question 14, my reasoning was that choice A, if true, provides a different explanation to why the traps have been less effective than what the scientists have hypothesized. Whereas the scientists attributed the decrease to a resistance to the pesticide, choice A attributes it to the pests having...

Q22 - It is an absurd idea

Can you go over #22 please?

My justification for A is that the argument is essentially rephrasing the contrapositive of the first sentence.

Would you agree with this?

Q22 - Copernicus's astronomical system is superior

Can you elaborate on why D is correct for question 22? I initially chose C, but realize that is incorrect because it states "intuitively true," which was not the factor indicated in the argument. My support for D is that 1) it correctly identifies the evidence was equally consistent 2) cor...

Re: PT23, S1, G3, Questions 12-18

From the rules, this is what I've currently derived: J1-->R2-->F2 R1-->J2-->F1 (due to that R can't be w/ M and one of the anthropologists must be selected per team) M-->(N or O) (since M restricts both R and S from being with it) I'm still having a hard time on the questions, particu...
