RonPurewal Wrote:"of them" creates redundancy; that idea is already contained in the meaning of "each". so, you're not likely to see that construction.

Hi Ron,

Thanks a lot for your help.

I got "Independent clause, each of them+verb-ing" construction in option E of QP1 - VSC001735 question. This option had pronoun antecedent error so I rejected it, but I was not aware that 'each' and 'of them' are redundant.

Your explanations would definitely help to solve these kind of questions efficiently in minimum time.

Thanks you so much!!!

however, it appears you've gotten a satisfactory response. so, great!
(if not, of course, feel free to pose any remaining queries.)

Yeah, now I have understood this concept very well.
Thanks a lot for your help.
(QP1 - VSC001735 is the code of SC question in Question Pack 1. Sorry to mention it here because that code number does not make sense. :-) )

Marry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Thanks!!

the most important is to eliminate choice A. why do we keep choice C and eliminate choice A. this is the hard point, which makes persons making sc on gmat excellent.
my approach is to understand grammatical roles clearly and justify the semantic/meaning relations between the entities in the sentence.

Hello Ron,

Can each of which also be considered redundant construction and therefore another reason to eliminate A?

thanks and Merry Christmas :)

no.
"each of which" is not a redundant construction, because it would be followed by a verb (just like "which" itself).
This anthology contains ten poems, each of which was chosen by a different editor.
this can't be done with "each" by itself.

it's come to my attention that this question is from the paid question packs. sorry, can't continue to discuss it here.
