Re: Q21

I believe #21 is asking for a comprehensive and exhaustive list of all the possible positions in which Gimena can be placed given the rules/conditions.

Re: Q20 - Ann will either take a leave

Also is not A or else B to mean:

If not A --> B

If not B --> A

..so in reality, if ~LA --> Q and ~Q --> LA ??

I got this question right without using any conditionals, lol, but an explanation of "A or else B" means LA ---> ~Q and ~LA ---> Q would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Q20 - Ann will either take a leave

They're not bi-conditionals. That would imply that the two terms are mutually dependent. Instead it is that you are given information about what happens if she takes a leave of absence, but also what happens if she doesn't take a leave of absence. LA ---> ~Q ~LA ---> Q Anytime you stack up tw...

Q22 - The airport's runways are too

I chose (B) assuming that adjacent runways were made available when visibility is NOT poor (a huge mistake for inference questions as I did not solely use the information in the prompt). Can anyone explain, working from wrong to right, why each of the answer choices are incorrect and B is the best a...

Re: Q15 - Words should be abandoned?

I narrowed down to choice A and C for this question and initially chose A but thought that the word "only" was too extreme and defaulted to C. Can anyone explain how not to get tied up with the word "meaningful". How does that differentiate from "meaning"? Is the exact ...

The answer to this question is A though. Did you mean Q20 or Q23?

Re: LR Help!

Hi Felix! LR can be challenging and has a lot of moving parts. There is the time issue related to understanding, but also related to difficulty. You need to know where you are at in the section and whether an intuitive approach or a more technical approach is more appropriate. Early in the section,...

Re: Diagraming Or and Not-Both

It's been ages since I revisited LSATs and have picked up the mantle again but my understanding is: If X --> Y & ~Z OR If X --> Z & ~Y And the contrapositive of those are (remember, the contrapositive of "AND" is "OR": If Z OR ~Y --> ~X OR If Y OR ~Z --> ~X I ...

Re: Q18 - In recent years the climate

I think (C) explains the paradox because it's saying the weather of past (cooler and dryer) has prevented crop insects from populating the area. If the direct opposite occurs (higher temperature and humidity) more insects will start populating the area to feast on those crops and as a result, decrea...

Re: Q17 - From the fact that people

Thanks Noah. What threw me off with answer choice A was "always possible". I was attempting to match the conclusions. I didn't think "always possible" was the same as "equally likely". Perhaps my focus is misplaced when attempting pattern of reasoning questions? Should ...

Re: Q7 - A certain retailer promotes merchandise

I'll try and tackle: B is wrong because it's a could be true. It CBT that if there is no holiday sale being run that it is the month of August, but it could also be true for any of the other months, too. It also incorrectly reverses what the stimulus is saying: Stimulus August --> ~holiday & ...

Re: Q9 - Long-term and short-term relaxation

If it stated "more" then that would strengthen the argument. The argument is saying that whether a recipeint has long-term or short-term treatment, both result in a decrease of anxiety levels and as such, the more expensive long-term treatment is unwarranted. So we need to look for an answ...

Q7 - Increases in the occurence of

I believe this is a strengthen question which would mean we're looking for something to bolster the argument core. I initially chose B because I thought as is protocol for many strengthen questions, the correct answer can eliminate alternative causes/reasons that can destroy/weaken our conclusion. I...

Re: Q12 - Clothes made from natural fibers

Can anyone explain why A is wrong??? For the stimulus never mentioned anything about the artificial fibers' original state though, so how come E is right? HELP Please:) Thank you in advance. I'll try and answer :D This is a must be true/inference question. A is wrong because the stimulus mentions n...

Re: Q21 - If the Parking Policy is Unpopular

Thanks Matt. I had quickly eliminated D and E because the stimulus did not directly say anything about "popular" but rather unpopular. I didn't want to assume that because it could be unpopular with one group it directly meant it would be popular with the other group. Then again, I guess t...

Re: Q21 - If the Parking Policy is Unpopular

So in this inference question, we cannot assume that both faculty and students can find it unpopular? This question threw me off because I thought outside either/or it could mean both.
