Re: Q12

I'm not sure if this is a good way to go about RC, but on a passage as back and forth as this one, I had difficulty keeping track of where everyone stood. But I did look at question 11's stem to answer question 12. Question 11 has the words "the author's contention that legal systems contain a ...

Re: Q4 - Why e

Oh! I see now why E is incorrect.
The conclusion of the argument is about Bruch industries not being a member of the trade group. This is in no way related to what the representative confirms.

Re: Q25

We're asked about what Dworkin would agree with. Tough to prephrase this sort of question, as there's a lot of Dworkin's opinions in this passage. (A) is unsupported. Dworkin states in lines 27-31 that judges and lawyers act this way, but we don't hear him say they do this too much. In fact, in the...

Re: Q13 - Medical researcher: Scientists compared a large group

Hi There, Can someone please help me understand what is wrong with my reasoning for A? My thoughts: One way to weaken an argument is to point out flaws with the methodology. If we can prove that all the ppl they observed in the study were Olympian athletes then maybe WHATEVER findings/conclusions th...

Re: Q4 - Swimming pools should be fenced

For B, can you clarify my reasoning please? In the original example, B would be closer to something like "...should be fenced to protect children from drowning, but teaching children that pools are dangerous and that they can kill you is more important." Instead, the stimulus suggests teac...

Re: Q20

Yikes --- that's a mean "down to 2". I'm surprised they would write two answers that are so similar for a purpose question. We have to focus on the difference: Is Goody (and others like him) trying to understand ancient societies or trying to understand the relationships between ancient a...

Re: Q13

Random question. Can you please clarify if my reasoning is correct? I was able to eliminate E because I though that a simple "description" of a phenomenon could actually JUST describe the what of the phenomenon (e.g. radiation is .....) or even the where (e.g. radiation occurs in nature or...

Re: Q7

Is it advisable to consider the author's tone when answering a main point question. For example, C doesn't address the author's overall snarky, condescending view of deconstructionism at all. Answer A, kinnnnnnd of hints at this by saying it reveals "the true nature" -i.e. the true nature ...

Re: Q1

I think, correct me if I'm wrong, that there are a few issues with D. 1) It uses "brain" cells as opposed to "nerve" cells 2) When it says that it "provides new information about neurogenesis in the adult human brain" this seems to be a little too strong since the passa...

Re: Q8 - Politician : My opponent says our zoning laws

Friends, This one is from the LSAT LR book. I have a question. Let's first dissect the argument. Argument : Conclusion - Opponents' lifestyle shouldn't be taken seriously. Premise - His lifestyle contradicts his own argument Why is E) incorrect? In describing the relationship between the lifestyle ...

I understand why A is right, but I'm not quite sure why D isn't. The purpose of altering this phyto(whatver :D ) was so that the gene that caused frost bite would be removed from the plan so that the plant would stand a better chance against frost bite. Is it wrong because of the word "several?...

Question:
IF the stimulus ended on the word "unhealthy," THEN could answer E work?

Is E wrong because it specifically qualifies the conclusion (and the correlation) to just sleep and illness?

Can someone please explain why A is not correct? I can see why D is, but I don't know what is necessarily wrong with A.

Thanks! :D

Re: Q26 - Acquiring complete detailed information

I solved this one an easier way... I looked at quantities. Main conclusion... IF->THEN DO->DO NOT A) Did not fit B) Not a fit C) USUALLY D) USUALLY E) Fits, no wishy washy usually language But A and B and E don't have the wishy washy language, so you're only able to eliminate 2 out 5 using th...

To Ohthatpatrick: You are seriously the best at explaining the RC questions. I've read a few dozen of your responses now. I love how in a few of your explanations you even go as far as to explain "what would make this answer right" by adding in or taking away x,y,z. That helps tremendously...

I'm not sure if this is a good way to necessarily go about these questions, but I noticed that the author chimes in with a "but" in lines 48. When the author includes a word like "but," or "however," etc., right after discussing the merits of one position, it usually is...

I agree with the other comments. When line 21 says "proof of the emergence within ancient..." it makes sense that emergence could mean "well, we didn't view individuals as free entities before and [i]now[i] we do. So, as to why D is the right answer, in that regard, I'm still lost. Ho...

Re: Q25

I too had your exact reasoning about answer choice B. The explanation really clarified it. Wanted to ask if lines 4-6 are extra support for this really minute (and odd) distinction between source[i] of debate and [i]actual content[i] debated. Specifically, the passage says, "steeped as they wer...
