Q8

by hanhansummer Thu Aug 04, 2016 9:19 am

I find no right answer in this question. :(

I think C is wrong because I draw this scenario:

PORSVRT

It seems to me that all the conditions are met and Restaurant is not in space 4.

Could someone help me out.

I just checked it against the rules, and doesn't it break the first rule?

PORSVRT

We need P at one end and R at another. And if you switched T and R, then you would break the TV rule.

If V is 5, we know T can't be 4 or 6. And T can never be 1 or 7. So the only options for T are 2 or 3.

I might just use that as a framing opportunity

P/R T _ _ V _ R/P
or
P/R _ T _ V _ R/P

Next, my chunk. PO or PV. It certainly won't be PV, since P is 1 or 7, so I guess it's PO.

updating the first frame,
R T _ _ V O P

for the 2nd, it could be PO on either side
P O T _ V _ R
or
R _ T _ V O P

For all of these, we still need to get the two R's to be at least two away from each other.

We can now see that the only legal spot for the second R in any of these is spot 4, choice C.

Hope this helps.
