Q 6
D I am wondering why D is wrong? Is it because "most" large scale computing problem, which is barely mentioned in passage

Good instincts --

"Most" is problematic here. We know a new paradigm is necessary, and can be helpful for a variety of reasons, but we don't know that MOST large-scale computing problems ARE being solved this way.

6. (B)
Question Type: Synthesis

We are now looking for a shared primary purpose. In Question 1, we identified the main idea of Passage B, which we said was to describe a paradigm shift. We also know that both passages talk about how this new approach to computing large, complex problems is superior to the old way of computing. (B) is the correct answer.

(A) is out of scope. Neither passage argues that the traditional paradigm is ineffective for common computing tasks. It’s large scale computing that’s the problem.
(C) is unsupported. The passages are not aimed at convincing skeptics"”we aren’t even given the viewpoint of skeptics (and don’t know if any exist). Both passages are educational, informing a readership unfamiliar with the phenomenon of large-scale computing about its recent developments.
(D) presents a degree issue"”it goes too far. While both acknowledge and are optimistic about the rise of new computing, neither states nor suggests that it has already supplanted, or replaced, the traditional paradigm.
(E) is unsupported because while the problems described are complex, both passages offer a potential solution for them. (23-29, 55-65.)

Just wanted to also add that D is wrong because Passage A actually implies that the large-scale computing has not supplanted the traditional method due to the limitations of seeking public participation. They both agree that the large-scale computing is superior to the traditional method though.
