Hi,

I chose C. Why is D correct, where is "political sovereignty" specifically mentioned? Is it in lines 10...but that only mentions sovereignty and not political.

Sovereignty is indeed mentioned in lines 10-11. And political sovereignty is implied since in lines 4-9 the passage mentions political borders (also, I'm not sure what other kind of sovereignty we could be talking about). Answer choice (D) is a direct restatement of the information in lines 4-9.

Incorrect Answers
(A) is contradicted. Sovereignty is within national borders, not across them.
(B) is unsupported. This answer blends the topic of discussion (communicative exchanges) with an aspect of the essential property of political sovereignty (control within an area).
(C) is unsupported. While trademark enforcement is one way governments control a physical space, they aren't necessarily essential to that control.
(E) is contradicted. The passage makes it clear that sovereignty is contained within a physical space and this answer would include persons traveling abroad.
