I chose E and do not understand why C is correct. The first sentence of the passage talk about a MYTH and answer C says a FACT is presented. i'm puzzled :?

The fact being referred to in (C) is not the myth mentioned in line 1. Quite the opposite, the fact being referred to is the fact that, contrary to the myth, Africans introduced rice to the United States.

She poses a question in lines 19-21, and then proposes two answers in lines 21-23, elaborating on them in the following paragraphs.

I did not pick C because it seemed to describe the passage up until paragraph 2, but ignored paragraphs 2 and 3. I'm wondering if that is something that is usual for RC describe the organization of the passage questions, to ignore half the passage?

The historical fact covers lines 1 - 15

The question raised by the fact is 19-21.

The two answers are 22 - the end.

It seems to only leave out the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph, which is a throwaway line about her research subjects/methodology.
