Q23

by PinsyuanW243 Fri Sep 13, 2019 10:50 pm

According to the question stem, I figure out all the 6 left position.
The following are my reasoning
1.location: T is put the first, so we can know S will be the FIFTH
2.Friendness: R is put the second, T will be the FIRST and Pwill be the 3rd according to T-P
3.Climate: R is put 2nd friendness. acccording to C>F for R in so “in climate” R will be the FIRST.
It follows that Q will be the FIFTH( there are only first and fifth to choose from for Q in climate, R
occupy the first) and
Theonly posistion left in climate (2nd)will be for P

All in all, I got 6, but answer shows the max is 5

Did I do any thing wrong, Please kindly assist.

If we input the two facts we're given, we have this

Climate: __ __ T S __
Location: T Q R P S
Friendly: __ R __ Q S

We also know that in Friendly, (T - P), so that means we have to have
T R P Q S in Friendly.

We also know that R's position in climate is better than R's position in Friendly, which is 2nd. So R will be first in climate: R _ T S _

Updated list:
Climate: R __ T S __
Location: T Q R P S
Friendly: T R P Q S

Finally, we know that Q's position is different in all three. Since Q is 2nd in Location and 4th in Friendly, it could only be 1st, 3rd, or 5th in Climate.

Thus it must be 5th and P will be 2nd.

Updated list:
Climate: R P T S Q
Location: T Q R P S
Friendly: T R P Q S

The question is asking, "How many of these 5 cities have complete determined positions in all three rankings?"

Since all three rankings are fully determined, we would say "all FIVE cities have definite rankings for each of the three categories".

Hope this helps.

Thanks for help, but I still cannot understand. I think the answer is six. Q23 only tell us T’s position in location and R’s position in friendliness. Why the position of S in location is seen as fact?
