Why is A the correct answer? In the passage it says "anticipated many of the reforms..." but is this the same to say "similar to those of..."?

Question Type:
Non-Author Opinion

Answer expected in lines/paragraph:
Line 5-10 contains all the keywords from the question stem. It tells us simply that "these activists anticipated many of the reforms proposed by the more militant Chicanos of the 60s/70s".

Any prephrase?
"Most likely to agree" stems usually just take what we know and find a weird way to express it. So we just need a safely worded answer that echoes the idea that activists in the 30s/40s proposed some of the same reforms proposed in the 60s/70s.

Correct answer:
A

Answer choice analysis:

(A) Looks good. If activists in the 30s/40s were pushing some of the same things proposed by reformers in the 60s/70s, then they must probably shared at least one concern. (Interestingly, this question sort of demands that we know or get from context that Chicano also means Mexican American).

(B) Unsupported comparison. We can't say they were MORE diverse than the 60s/70s. All that Garcia has said is that they're more diverse than some historians have recognized.

(C) Contradicted. The passage says the 60s/70s were more militant.

(D) Extreme - "most". Also this detail does not come from the Proof Window provided by the keywords we were given.

(E) Extreme - "most". We can't say that 51% or more of them were MORE into revolution than reform.

Takeaway/Pattern: The cheat code for any "inferred / suggests / implies / most likely to agree" question stem is to BEWARE of strong/specific/comparative language and to PRIORITIZE considering weaker claims. (A) was weakly worded, and the other four all had strong/specific/comparative red flag words
