Yep, here's my take. The passage ends by noting that the obstacle to circuit-building is the need for many additional organic compounds that can bind to circuit-component materials. (A) doesn't help surmount that obstacle; it just says there is renewed interest. Where, with (B), if there are more materials that could be substituted, there's a greater chance of finding suitable compounds that can bind to them.
