Q20

by barclme Sat Sep 03, 2016 4:02 pm

How is the answer D? To me all of the answers are wrong. I chose A because line 30 says "plumage probably does signal broad age-related differences in status" but for D, line 26 demonstrates that the darker birds were not very strong fighters as they won only 57 out of 75 conflicts.

I didn't like this question... Please help!

I know these can be so frustrating at times. Here's how I think they expect you to work this one out.

When they say "birds that form flocks" (line 1), they're expecting you to say, "first paragraph." If you go look in the first paragraph, they say in lines 3-7 that fighting ability is associated with high status. So, answer choice (D).

Incorrect Answers
(A) is about the Harris sparrow (line 29-31).
(B) is about the titmouse (lines 43-47).
(C) is out of scope.
(E) is unsupported. This twists the meaning of lines 7-10.
