Q18

by AnnaT620 Sun Feb 28, 2021 6:33 am

Hello Team

I've just been watching the Basic Grouping Interact lesson on this question, and I am quite confused as to why C is incorrect here. I see why B is correct - but I'm not sure what I'm missing in the rules, to not be able to rule out C.

M: W/G
P: F X I
S: H Y W/G

From rule 3 we know that:
Xs ---> Wp
not Wp ---> not Xs

We also know that G cannot be in production. It must be in either management or sales.

From the above, can we not infer that I must be in P, as W and G both cannot be in P?

Thank you so much! :)

You are very close, but there are a couple more options for this question. Your first frame is correct; I could be in P. But we could also do this:

M: G
P: F X W
S: H Y I

Or this:

M: I
P: F X W
S: H Y G

None of that is necessary, though. Since this is a must be question, work out what you know HAS to be true based on the condition, then look at the answers. What must be true is this:

M: __
P: F X __
S: H Y __

That's answer choice (B), and you're done. Be careful about putting in things that could be true just to complete the diagram, cause that can easily make you think something that can be true has to be true.
