Hi, I saw that there were no answers to the question so here's my attempt:
Passage B doesn't explicitly mention words that are subordinated to the music but we can infer that music would be the most important aspect, because music is not the one being subordinated to something else.
In the first paragraph of passage B, author mentions of two fundamental types, one where music is primary--which is later the singer's opera (exemplified by most Italian operas).
Author says that this particular type of opera earned "undeserved contempt" (line 28) and goes on about another type of opera.
So because the author says that it does not deserve contempt, the attitude of the author is quite implicit, and so safe to say that the author considers it legitimate.
