Q15

I picked B however I honestly could have picked C as well. Why is B a better option then C?

Thanks

I definitely see why you were tempted by (C)! Hard question.

(B) is supported by our example in lines 45-47, while (C) presents a degree issue. The phrases "always strive" and "focus on which method is most effective" are not actually supported by the passage. See if you can find text to support the principle that they should ALWAYS strive, or that whether to preserve language orally or in writing should hinge on which is "most" effective. It's not there.

Remember to stay close to the text. This can be particularly fruitful in close-call situations like this one.

I actually think the question you want to ask yourself on a problem like this is: why would (E) be RIGHT? I don't see support for (E) anywhere, that is, I don't see support for the idea that if there is variation, you should ALWAYS (there's that extreme term again) favor the spelling preferred by the majority.

Note on this question, guys, that all of the wrong answers have the word "always" in them.
