Is (A) wrong because it has not yet become extinct?
So threathened with extinction≠IS extinct...subtle change occurs here, correct? :|

Well, you're right that "threatened with extinction" in 39 is NOT a fair match for "extinct", but I think (A) is also wrong for an even bolder reason.

The Nile perch is not threatened with extinction.

The Nile perch is the reason that hundreds of OTHER fish species ARE threatened with extinction. So the Nile perch is not "an example of a species who is threatened with extinction". The Nile perch is "an example of a species that is causing other species to be threatened with extinction".

The fact that humans introduced the Nile perch into an ecosystem where it could do so much damage is described as "careless" in line 40, which matches with "lack of foresight" in (B).
