Q10

by asante Sun Aug 16, 2015 2:41 am

Hi all. I'm having some trouble with answer choice E for question 10. I can see why the correct answer is A (although I found the word "stemming" to be a very confusing choice since "stem" also means to originate from). Why is E wrong, though? Is it because it's not UNESCO that is hampered by inadequate funding, but rather countries like Mali that are held back due to money?

Many thanks!

If you want a "cheat code" for most "Most likely to agree" questions, just avoid EXTREME and COMPARATIVE language and look for the very safe, wishy-washy claim.

As soon as I laid my eyes on A's "It CAN plan a role", I was in love.

(B) "emerged for the most part in response to" is a specific causal accusation.

(C) "more effective" - COMPARISON

(D) "too little attention" - EXTREME

(E) "inadequate funding" - OUT OF SCOPE

Do we EVER discuss UNESCO's funding or lack thereof? I think you nailed the confusion LSAT was hoping to use to make (E) appealing --- we DID talk about Mali having inadequate funding to conduct its own, professional excavations.

I think the right answer can be inferred from lines 41-47 where the author gives an example of a way UNESCO could have helped Mali
