1. (D)
Question Type: Unconditional (Orientation)

As is often the case, this game starts off with an orientation question, which asks us to pick out an acceptable assignment of our elements. Remember that the most efficient approach to orientation games is to work FROM the constraints TO the answer choices. Don’t check each choice against the constraints: That’s a time sink!

The first constraint tells us that M is matched with G or V. Choice (C) has M with S. Eliminate it.

Next, we see that L makes an opening argument. Choice (B) has L on final. No good.

The last constraint says that either G or R, but not both, makes a closing argument. (A) has both of them making a closing argument. (E) has neither. We can rule out both, and we’re left with (D) as the answer.
