Negation

by thelearnlaxij77 Sat Jun 06, 2020 6:24 am

Quick question about negation, specifically logical negation as it relates to Necessary Assumption qs.

I'm a bit confused over how to (logically) negate answer choices that feature conjunctions and disjunctions

Do inclusive disjuncts "A or B" become "A or B but not both"

And do conjunctions "A and B" become "Neither A nor B"

how about exclusive disjuncts for that matter?

Thanks!

The negation of "A or B" is "no A and no B".
For example
A or B -> C
Contrapositive: ~C -> ~A and ~B

The negation of "A and B" is "no A or no B".
For example
A and B -> C
Contrapositive: ~C -> ~A or ~B
