Most / some?

by niwallace Wed Nov 21, 2012 8:03 pm

Is this correct?

A -m-> B
B --> C
Therefore .. A -m-> C

A --> B
A -m-> C
B <-s-> C

If so, why is the second equation some and not most?

Both of those are correct. The second one is a "some" statement because a "most" statement must be read from left to right. Notice that the the notation "-m->" only points in one direction.

Suppose you have 5 A's and 14 B's. Now, if you make 3 of those A's C's, you'll ensure that all A's are B's and that most A's are C's. Yet only true that some B's are C's.

C C C
A A A A A
B B B B B B B B B B B B B B

Hope that helps!
