Logic Challenge #31 - The Presentation Game (Easy)

by kkate Sun May 08, 2016 12:44 am

I'm having troubles understanding why D is the answer for #4. It seems like all the answer choices are correct?

This is what I have:
N O [L-P-M, R] K or
N O [R-K, L-P] M
[ ] being the cloud

So based on this M can present 6th or 7th just like (E) how K can be 6th or 7th...? Can someone help me out here. I feel like I'm missing something really simple but can't seem to figure it out why. Thank you!

I think somewhere along the way you may have forgotten you were doing Must Be True EXCEPT.

A/B/C/E all have to be true. D is possible, but flexible. M could be 5th.

Here's my attempt at drawing the tree in this awful typing environment.

N - R ------- K
....\ ........ /
......L - P - M
.............. /
............O

If O is 2, we know N is 1.

For the last five spots, we know that we have to accommodate this tree.
.......R - K
......... /
L - P - M

For (D), we could have
N O L P M R K

Check it against the rules. It works. That proves that (D) doesn't have to be true, because M could be 5th.

You have that possibility in your first cloud.

This is what I have:
N O [L-P-M, R] K or
N O [R-K, L-P] M
[ ] being the cloud

K, meanwhile, really DOES have to be 6th or 7th.

Hope this helps.

Patrick, E appears to be a second correct choice to the question, as K can give his presentation 5th (just like M). Example: NLPRKOM. Therefore the question has two correct answers, D and E.
