Errata list for Atlas LSAT Strategy guides - 2nd edition

by noah Mon Feb 08, 2010 12:29 pm

Thanks for those who pointed out any typos or flat our errors in our books (2nd edition).

If you find one that's not on this list, please post it in a reply to this post, or e-mail us. Here's what we've learned so far:

Logic Games Strategy Guide

1. Page 160, solution to #5:

The T-table shows IN: <nothing> and OUT: GW. The text that follows says: "The T-table above represents everything we know for sure." This is an error. According to the diagram at the top of the page, -G --> -W --> -L. Thus, the complete T-table would be OUT: GWL

Using the complete T-table gives a faster solution to the problem. Once -L is correctly displayed on the T-table, (E) is an obvious correct answer.

2. Pages 169-174. The numbering for the game is incorrect. It is labeled 1-5 it should be 13-17.

3. Page 204, under "Intersection of Three Elements," 2/3 down the page. The example scenario should include the following statement:

"Only one person can ride a particular ride on a given day."

4. Page 216, 1/3 of the way down the page:

"...so let’s starth there..." (should read start)

4. Page 224, 1/2 way down the page:

"...one of our conditional staements." (should read statements)

Logical Reasoning Strategy Guide

1. Page 64
October 2000, Section 3, #19
Should be December 2000, Section 3, #19

2. Page 75, second example:

"...products that are healthier and tase better..." (should read taste)

3. Page 98, June 2007 Section 3 #18, answer (C):

"...an innocent person assists assists rater than obstructs..." (should read "...assists rather than obstructs...")

3. Page 99, June 2007 Section 3 #18:

The answer is (B), NOT (C). The explanation should read:

"Here, the basic argument is:

It is sometimes morally right for parents to hide accused from police.

Therefore...

Likely widely accepted that it is sometimes morally right to obstruct the police in their work.

This ignores that possibility that some other moral consideration, such as the moral responsibility to comply with police orders, might be more important than the moral duty to help family. If this were so, it wouldn’t be acceptable to obstruct police work."

4. Pages 134-136

June 2007, Section 2, #2 Should be labeled #22

Reading Comprehension Strategy Guide

1. Page 120, passage, line 9:

"...this claim n the fact..." (should read on)

We just learned a new one from Jukay -

Logical Reasoning: p 134, the problem is not from June 2007, Section 2, #2, it's #22!

Thanks!

Minor typo: P46 of RC, third line, "use" instead of "us."

In the next sentence is an erroneous comma ("information is important and how"). I only mention the comma because I already have this note open. :)

A minor error that I found this morning:

Logic Games Strategy Guide

pg. 95 and pg. 102 - both are the same question #7
it originally states "which one of the following, if substituted for the condition that exactly of of Robinson's novels..." but I think it should be "one of" because that is what it says on pg. 83 #7 (same question).

Thanks! Strangely, in my copy, all 3 questions are the same. Are we using monks to hand-copy these books?!

I'll have to look at other versions and keep an eye on those monks - they're probably boozing it up during work...

Other errors I found on the LR Strategy Guide:

Pg. 131 (middle of page)
"what other pets need to considered?" should be "what other pets need to be considered?" (the "be" is missing on my book)

Pg. 159
in answer choice (D) "recognix ze" should be "recognize" i suppose..

The mystery deepens - the first error is in my copy, but not the second! Thanks again.

Didn't see this listed but in LG 2nd ed page 156 and 157, question 5 on page 156 says "neither Y nor Z can be odd...." but in the solutions on page 157 it says "neither Y nor Z can be even...."

Good catch! With reading skills like that, you should consider going to law school... ;)

BTW, I'm locking this thread, as we're now Manhattan LSAT, and we're done talking about errors in old editions! Post any other errors in the MLSAT thread - thanks!
