Could conditional statement be an evidence?

by ericha3535 Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:48 pm

Let's say:

If one eats yogurt, then one gets fat.

When one gets fat, he has a hard time breathing.

Therefore, eating yogurt could make you have a hRd time breathing.

Are those conditional statements presented as evidences?

I think they are just mere claims...

Plz someone verify it for me. Thanks

Hey Ericha,

I think your understanding of terminology is a bit off. ANYTHING that supports the conclusion is a premise. It doesn't matter if it's a claim or a fact. So yes, those are premises, because they're supporting the final conclusion. Also, they ARE presented as facts (if you do X, Y happens --> that's presented as fact).
