A LR Question

by pistachio2014 Thu Sep 30, 2010 1:30 pm

Hi, I can't figure out this LR problem, and I don't know which PT it comes from. I narrowed it down to A and B and chose B. A is supposed to be the correct answer. Please explain!

Over the last 10 years, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of people over the age of 65 ....

I had to edit your post - LSAT questions are copyrighted material.

See if you can figure out where the question comes from, thanks!

But, the quick answer, (B) discusses birth rate, which means fewer young people, which would allow for the possibility that the town has a bunch of 52 year olds who became 62 year olds (and not above 65).

(A) injects a whole lot of young people, which would require a lot of old people to balance them in the averaging, and thus strengthens the idea that there are a lot of 65+ folks.
