Some Hollywood stars are politically active, and many people who are politically active crave attention from others, but that doesn’t mean that politically active Hollywood stars are simply attention-seekers. Many high-profile people have passionate views.

Which one of the following is mentioned as an opposing point to the main conclusion?

1) Many politically active people desire attention from other people.

2) Many Hollywood stars feel strongly about the issues they advocate.

------------------------

1 is correct. Can someone break this down please? Thanks.

Hey Ptraye,

Conclusion: Politically active Hollywood stars are not necessarily simply attention-seekers.

Premise: Many high-profile people have passionate views.

Counterpoint: Some Hollywood stars are politically active, and often politically active people are attention-seekers.

Simplified:

Conclusion: PAHS might be political because of personal passion, not wanting attention.
Premise: PAHS might very well have passionate views.
Counter: Often PA people just want attention.

Hope that helps!
