Work a few more years or go for the MBA now?

by James T Tue Jun 03, 2008 7:12 pm

Profile run down:
Graduated with a BA in Graphic Arts in 2006, GPA: 3.1, GMAT: August 2008(Gunning for 700s)
3 years of freelance graphic design work during my undergraduate studies.
2 years of post graduate work experience in the admin department of a large, multi-national insurance company.
I am currently enrolled in a calculus class at a local junior college.
Long term goals: Marketing or Management Consulting

Given this brief bit of information, is it reasonable to apply to UCLA, USC, or UCI at this point in my career? Should I attempt to build a stronger resume?

Thank you for your time.

If you're ready to make that career transition (i.e. you have a pretty good idea what you want out of a career), then apply now -- there's no point being in holding pattern getting experience for the sake of experience if you feel you're ready now. However, if you don't know, figure that out first before applying - which may be this year, next year or the year after.

Thanks for the advice Alex. That's a huge weight off my shoulders.
