two numbers on a number line are 2 and -2. Which has higher absolute value?

The answer is -2


My question is, dont they both have same absolute value of 2 since both are 2 points away from zero?

this is incorrect; the absolute value of both numbers is 2.
whatever source this problem came from, that source clearly has fundamental issues—and it would obviously be a VERY unwise decision for you ever to use this source again.
