Where does the antecedent need to be placed in a sentence?

by kushagra452 Sun Oct 10, 2010 3:03 pm

His right hand and arm crippled by a sniper's bullet during the First World war, Horace Pippin, a Black American painter, worked by holding the brush in his right hand and guiding its movements with his left.

In the above sentence the possessive pronoun 'His' is referring to Horace Pippin. Is the placement of 'his' and its antecedent (Horace Pippin) in the sentence correct?

Thanks!
