When exactly to start on verbal section

by soni.corp Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:50 pm

I have been studying for the math section of GMAT for a month and half. I went through all 5 mgmat quant books, foundations, and Official Guide 13 questions. My score improved from 37 to 43 for the quant section. I have also bought and not yet started on the Official guide for GMAT quant review and Kaplan 800. I have went through the OG13 Questions multiple times and am saving the Quant review practice questions for when I finish the kaplan 800 for more practice. My question is Should I start on the 3 Verbal books in the MGMAT guides or should I keep continuing with Quant? I am worried that I might only have 1 or 2 months left to study for GMAT before work takes up a lot of my time. Is only a 6 point higher score after going thru the 5 quant books a bad indication? I have only taken 3 CATs, with first one being the diagnostics test. The questions are defiinitely harder, mostly from 600-700 and 700-800 range. Thanks.

Now. Today. Don't study exclusively for one section for 6+ weeks.

You might spend one day on quant and another day on verbal - but within a one-week period, you should be spending time on both (unless you're a very unusual student who only needs to study one section).

You've made good progress on quant so far, but you'll likely make more - as long as you don't try to keep doing only quant all the time. :) Your brain actually works better when it's got some variety, and when you put something down and then come back to it again a few days later... and a week later... and again a few weeks later.

Next, I think this would be a good resource for you:

You've already taken care of some of these things, but make sure to pay particular attention to the How To Learn section in the 2nd half of the article (and follow the links given there!).
