Re: Waitlist at Stern - Advice on how to get off the Waitlist?

by mili Mon Jan 07, 2013 11:08 pm

Hello,

Congrats on getting waitlisted! I know it's probably not the result you wanted, but it means you are still in the running and that they think you are a strong candidate.

I would suggest a couple things:
- Show them they are your first choice. Maybe go visit again, write a short statement that really shows why Stern is your top choice (if you don't feel that was conveyed in your application).
- Your GMAT is on the lower side. Generally speaking, in-person courses are valued more than online courses, so you should be aware of that. Do you think you could retake the GMAT and score higher? If so, then you could let them know you've signed up to retake the GMAT and that you'll be sending your updated score asap.
- The GRE is an option, but the GMAT would be preferred.
-Not sure what your community/extracurricular profile looks like, but if you don't feel like you are doing much in the way of volunteering, you may want to take something on and let them know you've done so.

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!
