Undergrad vs. Grad GPA

by markzonarich Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:47 am

Many applications ask for your undergraduate GPA. I assume this is due to the fact that most applicants have only attended an undergraduate program prior to seeking a MBA.

What do you suggest one should do if they have other post-graduate degrees with a higher GPA than their undergrad? How would you best suggest highlighting this fact in one’s application?

My undergraduate GPA in Architecture was average (3.3), but my graduate GPA in Architecture was higher (3.7).

Thank you.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for writing in. Most applications will ask about any other graduate school experience and ask for your GPA there, so you will have a chance to list it. Still your undergraduate GPA is likely to carry more weight since it allows you to be compared to other candidates, and represents a diverse set of coursework.

Hope this helps!
