Ok..so as you figured it out the first part of the question is 5500/R and that is in fact the Number of Faculty the school had in 1999.
Now,lets assume that X(n) is the number of students in 2004 and Y(n) is the number of faculty members in 2004.
Now we have just got to find X(n)/Y(n)
We also know that
S=[X(n)-5500]/5500 and F=[Y(n)-5500/R]/(5500/R)
find x(n) and Y(n) and write the equation in terms of S and F
u land up with a 55 in common and option c
