* Trust/Distrust

by singhvikramveer Fri May 28, 2010 7:17 am

People who do not believe that others distrust them are confident in their own abilities, so people who tend to trust others think of a difficult task as a challenge rather than a threat, since this is precisely how people who are confident in their won abilities regard such tasks.

The conclusion above follows logically if which one of the following is assumed?
(A) People who believe that others distrust them tend to trust others.
(B) Confidence in one’s own abilities gives one confidence in the trustworthiness of others.
(C) People who tend to trust others do not believe that others distrust them.
(D) People who are not threatened by difficult tasks tend to find such tasks challenging.
(E) People tend to distrust those who they believe lack self-confidence.

I went forward and thought D as the answer which I thought matches with the voice of question but this is not a correct option..

what is the source of this question? i'm going to bet that this is not from the official gmat prep software.
one, the writing is absolutely atrocious. despite being a professional writer and editor, i had to read through the prompt 7-8 times to make any sense of it whatsoever, and i still have no idea what "won abilities" is supposed to mean.
two, this problem looks as though it is meant to simulate a problem from the lsat, not the gmat.

this folder is for OFFICIAL GMAT PREP PROBLEMS ONLY; there are other folders for problems from other sources.

please do the following:
* if (against all odds) this problem is really from the OFFICIAL GMAT PREP SOFTWARE, then please upload a screen shot of the problem in the software.

* if this problem is not from the software, please post another thread in the general verbal folder.

* if you do neither of these things in the next week or two, we will delete this thread.

thanks!
