Troubles with the GMAT: MS in Accountancy

by julio.woo1 Mon May 31, 2010 8:23 pm

Hi all!

This is the first time I post here, so here we go.

I'm applying for a M.S. in Accountancy at CSUF for Fall 2010. I graduated from USC in 2008 in Bus. Admin (Finance), GPA below 3.0, and 2 years of work experience in the for-profit education industry as an assistant director. I also have taken classes to raise my GPA, including an upper division accounting class at CSUF (got an A on that class).

I've gotten a 560 on my first attempt, way below my 620-680 range on PT's, maybe because my monitor died on me dring the verbal portion of the test, and it took a few minutes for the staff to fix it. I got the next test waived and tried my second attempt on th 29th. I was unable to take that one because, although the GMAT informed me I could take the test with my old passport and a renewal slip. Went to the center and got turned out.

Now, as my next text is on June 8th, and the application deadline was on the 31st (note that I ve sent the online application and the materials), what are my chances of having them accept my new score? Also, even if they don't accept my new GMAT score, how will my initial 560 score affect my chances to get admitted (they ask for at least 550)?

Thanks in advance for the assistance,
J

Hi Julio

At MBA Mission we specialize in MBA programs, so I am not familiar with the MS Accounting program you are referring to. With our MBA clients, we suggest just politely calling the school’s admissions office, explaining the situation, and asking if they will accept your most recent score.
