Too Late for Community Service?

by Guest Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:50 am

I know schools look for candidates to have community service in their backgrounds. I recently started being a homework coach, where I help inner city 5th graders with their homework for 90 min per week. I felt this would be a good choice by showing a child the value of an education, since I am pursuing an MBA. Since I am applying for fall of 2009, will the schools look at this as just trying to pad my application? Is 90min a week enough time or are they looking for more?

Thank you

They probably will see it as resume padding, but then again something is better than nothing.

What adcoms really value is achievement, not just participation. Anyone can participate; fewer can put in the time, effort and sacrifice to achieve.
