Toefl problem

by Guest Mon Sep 29, 2008 7:09 am

Hi All,

I went to give the toefl exam yester but when i reached the center i was informed that the test has been cancelled due to some technical fault.
I just want to ask a few questions.

I am done with my GMAT(770) and had planned to apply in the 1st round for most universities. However, now i think that because of this toefl (rather ets) problem i may miss the first deadline.
These are the universities/schools i am applying to.(Full time -2yrs)

Haas,Berkeley
Purdue.
UT texas,Austin
Kelly
Kenan Flagler
Carlson
Eller
Tepper
Smith,Maryland

Does applying in the 1st round have any advantages over applying in the 2nd round for any of these universities?(I need a scholarship badly).I have a 44 in verbal on the GMAT and am willing to write to the Adcom.Maybe i can submit my Toefl score a few days late.Is that possible?I dont want to suffer for no fault of mine.

This is something where you should contact the adcoms directly as it's an unusual circumstance (and also no fault of your own).

If the adcom is willing to accommodate you, then what you probably will need to do is to simply disclose this fact in the optional essay stating that your TOEFL scores will be late because of an ETS technical issue.

However, contact the adcom first.

Also, there isn't a difference between Rounds 1 and 2 for scholarship decisions (just don't apply Round 3). So worse case, even if the adcom won't accommodate you, applying in Round 2 shouldn't put you out of the running for scholarships if that's what you're after (but of course you have to get in first!).
