I got this Question In my verbal prep
The stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion just as the planets are, yet being so far away from Earth that their apparent positions in the sky do not change enough for their movement to be observed during a single human lifetime.
(A) The stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion just as the planets are, yet being
(B) Like the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are
(C) Although like the planets the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, yet
(D) As the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are
(E) The stars are in motion like the planets, some of which at tremendous speeds are in motion but
Although I marked it correctly (B)
My doubt here is the explanation, why is "some of them at tremendous speeds" incorrect here, as per me it correctly modifies stars as it describes something about those stars.
2nd Query is regarding the use of "Being" here..
as far as I understand, If being is used to define a "state" for eg being a celebrity..etc etc.. its considered correct, Is being here correct then?
In option C the conjunction "Yet" seems to be in the construction "Although like X, Y is in the motion...Yet..." what is wrong with this construction?
is the sentence E wrong here because the statement "The stars are in motion like the planets" in this we are comparing the state of motion of planet and stars and not stars and planets, i mean had it been..Stars like planet are in motion.., It would have been correct..am I right?
Thanks
Nikhil.
