The point A, B, C, and D are on the number line

by rschunti Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:59 pm

The point A, B, C, and D are on the number line, not necessarily in the order. If the distance between A and B is 18 and the distance between C and D is 8, what is the distance between B and D?

1). The distance between C and A is the same as the distance between C and B.

2). A is to the left of D on the number line.

The above is GMATPREP question. What is the best approach to solve above problem?

I agree with Jeff that drawing it out is the best way to go - no algebra! If you have more questions, please add them to the existing thread for this problem, rather than starting a new one.
