i don't believe that this problem is from gmat prep; in fact, with a brief google search, i found it on the site of "platinum gmat".

the reason i was suspicious in the first place is that this problem demands an unreasonable degree of historical knowledge: namely, in order to evaluate choice (b), one would have to know in which year the great depression actually ended -- clearly, not the sort of knowledge that would be expected on this exam.

--

if this problem really *is* from GMAT PREP SOFTWARE, please upload a screenshot; you can do so by going to an image hosting website, such as postimage.org, and uploading one. if you don't do so within one week, we will assume that the source has been fabricated and will delete this post.
thanks

Thanks for the response, Ron. I did not personally receive the question in the GMAT Prep test yet, but it is listed in the GMAT Prep 700+ CR questionnaire that is floating on other forums: BeatTheGmat and GMATClub.

However, if you think that the question can not be answered without the knowledge of the American History, I will not spend more time on the logic.

ya, that's what i thought -- please don't post questions in this folder unless you know that they come from gmat prep.

by the way -- any source that presents GMAT PREP questions with supposed "difficulty levels" is automatically an unreliable source; GMAC does not disclose the difficulty levels of any of its problems.
also, i've seen the "700+" DS document floating around on the same forums, and the title is frankly laughable -- that document has almost as many low-level (probably <400) questions as actual high-level questions.
