Taking the first cat?

by rahul.manhat Mon Apr 01, 2013 12:49 am

Hi Team,
I have enrolled for the full course starting on 7th April,2013. I know I should take the first CAT before the start of the course, but I want to know whether I should study some basic math and verbal or not before taking the first CAT??
I took the Gmat prep exam one and scored a 570 without any study.(72 percentile in quant and 30 percentile in verbal) . While analyzing I found that I had forgotten some formulae , basic grammer and just could not focus much on RC. So the weak areas in both quant and verbal were all over the place. Now I feel that if I revise basic math and quant , I would be able to analyze weaker and stronger area in a better way and would represent my true standing. So please advise ?

If you'd like to review first, you can - but it's really not necessary. Your teachers just need to see what your starting level is, that's all. (And it's also crucial for you to have a detailed picture of your strengths and weaknesses - GMATPrep is a great test but doesn't offer any data or reports about that kind of thing.)

So I'd be inclined just to go ahead and take the first CAT and then get started on homework. If you can get a little ahead on the homework, that'd be great, because we give you a LOT to do. :)

When you're done with that test, you can use this article to analyze your results (warning: it takes a good 45-60 minutes!):

Good luck with class!
