Stanford XX Factor Conference

I'm not sure whether anyone will be able to help me with this.

I am signed up to attend the Stanford XX Factor conference for women applying to business school, but I am running into problems with work/flight times and am now concerned that I may not be able to attend after all.

Based on my preliminary research, Stanford is my top choice school. What I am trying to figure out is how greatly attending something like this will impact my chances of admission to Stanford. If I don't go, it's unlikely that I'll be able to visit campus prior to first-round deadlines (I'm on the East Coast). I am trying to weigh the stress/difficulty involved in getting there against the insight I'll receive and how my attendance might increase my chance of being accepted. Help!

Attending the XX Factor conference would be wonderful because it will help you learn more about the school and determine whether Stanford is really the right place for you. You’ll also be able to check out the Bay Area, which may be new to you if you are an East Coaster, and depending on when you visit, you will be able to meet students. However, if you are unable to attend the conference, you should let them know as soon as possible to show consideration for others who may be able to attend.

If you cannot visit the campus before you apply in the fall, I recommend making an effort to reach out to students and recent alums to ask them about their experiences and learn more about the GSB resources that will help you achieve your goals. As long as you are able to show that you have researched the school and can demonstrate why you want to go to Stanford, a campus visit is not necessary.

Hopefully you will be able to visit Stanford in the next few months, but if you are not able to make it, this should not have a negative impact on your application.
