The "So... as to" idiom is listed in OG12 as "incorrect" with no further explanation. The idiom was used in a correct construction in OG10. So, we're not really sure what the official position is on this idiom right now, but I would be wary of the construction. If there's another choice that doesn't use "so... as to" and also doesn't have other errors, I'd pick it.
"so... that" can mean "enough" or provide a purpose for something.
Enough: The book was SO SHORT THAT I could read it in one night. (The book was short enough that I could read it in one night.)
Purpose: She gave money SO THAT the school could offer scholarships.
"such as" or "such...as" means "for example."
Matt drives fast cars, SUCH AS Ferraris.
Matt enjoys driving SUCH cars AS Ferraris.
"such...that" is similar to the "purpose" usage of "so... that"; think of it as "with the result that"
She wants to make a lot of money, such that she can retire when she's 35.
The cards were dealt such that I got all of the aces.
(Hmm. Cards. Aces. Money. Retire. I think I just found my new career! ;)
