should I retake the GMAT???

by siddharthsharma.it Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:20 am

I wrote GMAT 2 weeks back, got a score of 730 (50q,38v) , but I forgot to confirm the analysis of Issue part. Today, I got my official score report with only 4.0 AWA and when I called GMAT customer care , they told me that analysis of issue wouldn't be counted, if I did't confirm it. I think I can perform better. Should I retake the exam . Cliche is I am again busy with my work and round 1 application deadlines are fast approaching. Please suggest.

Hi siddharthsharma.it

Thanks for writing in. Traditionally the AWA portion of the GMAT is not given much weight in the admissions decision, or perhaps only used if one last data point is needed in making a decision. Your GMAT score, however, heavily favors the Quant section, so a better AWA or Verbal score could give the admissions committee more confidence in your communications ability. If you think another GMAT attempt could raise these aspects of your score, you may want to think about retaking the exam.

Best of luck,

Daniel Richards
