Should I reschedule my test date?

by thisguy123 Fri Feb 03, 2012 12:06 pm

Hey everyone,

So I have my GMAT scheduled for March 3rd. I've been taking practice tests and studying very diligently, but I do not believe I will be ready to hit my target by March 3rd (break 700). I'm currently scoring mid to high 600s in practice, but I know I have room for improvement.

If I feel like I won't be prepared to beat the score by March 3rd, would you advise me to reschedule ($50 fee if I reschedule at least 7 days of the test date) or go ahead and take the test?

I'm not afraid to take the exam twice, but will taking it twice hurt me in the admissions process at all? What if there is a large gap in my scores, or perhaps I take it twice and score only the same / worse than my first test?

If I had to take it a second time, I feel like I would benefit from having experienced exactly what the real test will be like.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hi,

Did you take your test? I am in the same dilema as i have been scoring between 600 - 660 but I need to crack the 700 barrier. My biggest problem is time management and I am still struggling.

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Vijay,

My practice test scores went as follows:

610
640
650
650
650
690
720
700

On test day, I scored 740. Sorry I just saw your post. Hope it went well if you've taken it!

If not, here is what I've been suggesting: get the official guide and do every single problem. Master each and every one. If you miss one, do it over again. If you review all the ones you missed two weeks before the exam and miss some of them again, redo them twice. It was time consuming, but it was worth it.

Also, notice that jump from 650 to 690. That was after I started doing OG problems for two straight weeks without a practice test in between.
