Shall I take the GMAT again?

by BiplabD204 Sat Oct 18, 2014 10:41 am

I took the real GMAT today and scored 690. I cancelled the score since it was way below my expectation.

I scored 740, 740 , 750 and 710 in the GMAT prep test with quant between 48-51 and verbal between 41-43 ecept for 1 time when I scored 38. In Veritas test I scored 690, 720 (3 times) and latest 740. MGMAT - 710, 720 and 730.

However in the actual test I scored 51 in quant but 31 in verbal!!!
my target is above 730.

Shall I take the GMAT again within a week? As I have prepared enough for past 3 months, don't see much value add in preparing more. Please advice.

Why did you cancel your score? A 690 puts you in the 87th percentile. It sounds like you are so stressed out about your GMAT, it may get even lower next time around. You are putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Give a chance for your brain to relax. Honestly, I would take at least a week to chill out. I wouldn't even pick up any GMAT materials. Go for run, work out, pick up girls, etc. Do whatever it takes to get your mind off of the GMAT. Come back in a week fresh and re-energized.

I cannot understand why you cancel it? Or,maybe, you need to fairly ask yourself a question: have you already met any question in your GMATprep? If you have already met some of them, so the scores are not that representitive to you. In the other word, 690 is also a quite nice score, you really don't need to cancel it. Even later you get the score you expected, this one won't influence your application at all.
