Hi,
In reference to Problem number # 5, page 93 (Modifier Problem Set).

Q. Mary buys cookies made with SugarFree, an artificial Sweetener, which tastes as sweet as the corn syrup that her brother loves but where there are fewer calories than in an equivalent amount of corn syrup

The solution given for this problem is :
Mary buys cookies made with SugarFree, an artificial sweetener, which tastes as sweet as the corn syrup that her brother loves but which contains fewer calories than does an equivalent amount of corn syrup.

Shouldnt it be "... which contains fewer calories than an equivalent amount of corn syrup" ?

Hi

By using "does", the sentence is correctly comparing the amount of calories in SugarFree to the amount of calories in corn syrup.

If you remove "does" the sentence will end up comparing the amount of calories to the amount of corn syrup
