four digit number - good one

Consider four digit numbers for which the first two digits are equal and the last two digits are also equal. How many such numbers are perfect squares?

o/1/2/3 or 4

ans is 1
and the number is 7744.
It appeared in management entrance exam. I am not sure which one. thought interesting, so posted.

i also expected ".... it was said that..."

but it would make double recurrence of "that" quite close making the sentence awkward. Mark another "that" in "...so prevalent that..."

I fully agree with you as you have left no choice before me by citing this example.

looks like instructors should clarify what it is that we are missing.

for the time being stick to best possible answer choice available.
