Scored 680: Need advise for my application

by isha.v.20 Thu Aug 11, 2016 2:22 am

Hi,

I gave my GMAT on 9th of this month and got 680. I was expecting to score higher as I got 710(Manhattan), 710(Manhattan) , and 730 (GMAT prep)in my last 3 mock tests. I am really not sure what should I do with this score. Should I retake my exam next month or focus on my application. I also have no clue regarding my next steps as to how to apply to B schools. Could you please advise me on my next steps.

Thanks,
Isha

Hi there!
A lot depends on which schools you are targeting? Assuming top schools, I suggest you retake. You were practicing higher so it may just be a matter of getting used to the formal testing environment / timing / structure. It's possible you could see an increase on your 2nd attempt with pretty minimal studying. I've seen other students do that. I would plan to retake within the next month while getting starting on the application. Or if you feel that more time would really help you to secure a much higher score, why not plan to wait and apply in Round 2?
